The Rise of the Roof Coatings

Jewett Roofing is constantly on the lookout for superior low slope roof repair methods. One of the biggest trends in recent years has been the rise of high quality elastomeric roof coating systems.  Coatings are an ideal solution to fortify existing roof systems against costly and annoying leaks.  Jewett has been able to successfully utilize coatings to both restore entire roofs as well as address localized leak issues on roofs that are otherwise performing well.

ER Systems Elastomeric Coatings

Jewett offers coatings to address all types of existing roof conditions. We have partnered with ERSystems to provide some of the highest quality elastomeric coatings in the industry.

Our coatings:

  • Reduce the surface temperature of the roof if coating a darker and/less reflective roof surface.
  • Which in turn:
    • Helps reduce cooling costs.
    • Reduces the expansion and contraction of metal roofs caused by change in temperature.
  • Reflects the sun’s UV-rays and prevents premature degradation.
  • Are Fully Tax Deductible the year it is installed vs. Depreciating New Roof Construction.
  • Are available with full 10 Year Warranties.
  • Decrease future maintenance cost.

Coatings do not work well for every roof.  We do not recommend full roof coatings when there is wet insulation under the roof or when there is ponding water on the roof top.  Coatings are an excellent option over metal roofs. The elastic nature of our roof coatings mitigate the expansion and contraction the wreak havok on those roof tops.  Additionally, elastomeric coatings can extend the life of most single ply roof systems. These include PVC, TPO, and EPDM Roofs.

Cost of Roof Coating

Provided your roof is a candidate for a coating application, the cost associated with a applying a roof coating can be significantly less expensive than with a re-roof project.  In our experience the costs are between 50% to 70% of an equivalent single ply installation project.
